Marcus, a native of Milledgeville, Georgia, was awarded the John Phillip Sousa award in high school for his dedication to music. After graduating he went to Jacksonville State University as a music major. Mr. Hawkins preformed and recorded with the jazz bands, marching band, pep band and chamber groups.

 

Marcus was voted “Most Outstanding” by his peers in 2005. While at JSU Marcus participated in the PASIC competition drumline that received 3rd place in 2004. Also in 2004 Marcus marched Spirit drum and bugle corps. In the next two years he preformed with the 6 time WGI world champions Music City Mystique (2005, 2006). Marcus then accepted a full time music director position at Unified Ministries. Marcus has since then preformed at many venues in many styles. Some of the corporate shows mhe has done include: Cracker Barrel, Coke-a-Cola, Texas leaders, AARP,USAA, Tennessee Aquarium, Avon, Mary Kay, city of Dallas, TX, Atlanta Falcons and many more. Marcus is currently the percussion caption head at Baldwin high school, on the design team at Atlanta Quest, And a instructor at Alliance drum and bugle corps. In his free time he consults with many groups in the southeast.
