Neal Bright
Director of Indoor Percussion
Neal Bright is currently the Director of Bands at Sammy McClure Middle School in Dallas, GA. A graduate of Effingham County High School, he holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education degree with an emphasis on percussion from Georgia Southern University. While at GSU, he was percussion instructor for the Southern Pride Marching Band as well as the GSU Indoor Drumline, earning 3rd place at the Percussive Art Society International Convention.
Throughout his career he has participated, instructed and written for some of the top groups in the world. Neal was the Co-Captain for the Atlanta Quest Independent World drumline its first two years in existence, and also served as a Battery Tech. He also marched on the tenor line for the 2008 DCA Class A World Champion and High Percussion winner, Alliance Drum and Bugle Corps. His 2009 Scholastic A indoor drumline won the title of 2009 SAPA Champions; also earning 14th place and a Semi-finalist at WGI World Championships. The various ensembles he instructs and writes for consistently receive outstanding ratings in competition.
His newest venture is The Director of Indoor Percussion for Countermotion Inc., which is currently working on a new library of shows for the WGI circuit. He also writes percussion music for the original marching shows put out by CounterMotion. He is a Vic Firth Education Artist and freelance drumset player when time permits.
